The basic concept of biomimetics is the derivation of technical applications from
dead cells forming capillaries in the lumina of which the water flows. To understand how this tissue can be the source for a biomimetic concept of a ferrophobic surface, some principles and problems of watertransportinplants have to be briefly summarised.
